Peanut Trail Mixes

Ingredients
Peanut Granola
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 cups quick oats, uncooked
- 2/3 cup shredded coconut
- 3/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts
- 1/3 cup wheat germ
Chocolate GORP
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup raisins
Crunchy Combo
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 cup raisins or dates
- 1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips
- 1 cup dried apple pieces
Nature's Munch
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 cup raisins
Mello Munch
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 cup bite-size dried prunes
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- 1/4 cup dried apricots, quartered
Tropical Treat
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup package peanut butter chips
- 1 cup dried banana chips
Equipment
- Large mixing bowls
- Small mixing bowl
- Baking sheet or baking pan
- Measuring cups
- Mixing spoon
- Airtight storage containers
Instructions
- PEANUT GRANOLA 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted 3 tablespoons honey 2 cups quick oats, uncooked 2/3 cup shredded coconut 3/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts 1/3 cup wheat germ In a small container, mix butter and honey. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Toss with butter-honey mixture. Spread mixture in a well-greased baking pan. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 20 minutes. Cool and store in air-tight container. May be served with milk as a cereal, eaten out of hand as a snack or featured as a topping for yogurt or ice cream. Yields 1 quart.
