The Virginia Peanut Growers Association, the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association and the South Carolina Peanut Board have received authorization from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for registration of a certification for Virginia Carolina grown peanuts.

The certification logo (below), to be used by authorized persons, is intended to certify that the peanuts carrying the logo were grown in the Virginia-Carolina region (comprising Virginia, North Carolina and
South Carolina).

Dell Cotton, Manager of Peanut Growers Cooperative Marketing Association stated “the purpose of the Certification Logo is to let consumers know where the peanuts they purchase are grown.”

It is the hope of the three organizations that processors and retailers will see the value of having the certification logo as part of their label. The quality of Virginia-type peanuts grown and processed in the VC region is a source of pride to all producers in the area.”
